"Look what I figured out!" I love hearing that. One of my goals as a teacher is to remove the mystery behind the mechanics of music. If I can give someone the tools to have "ahas" without me, I feel great!

Many of the barriers to learning have to do with some misconceptions about music theory, that it's all hoodoo voodoo or that learning about music will somehow stifle the creative process. Poppycock! The practice of making beautiful music certainly has its magic, and by understanding the mechanics of music, you create a huge playground in which to unleash your talent.

I teach jazz, improvisation, and music theory to musicians and vocalists. And I'll show you how to lead a band. I've been teaching since I was a student at Berklee College of Music in Boston 28 years ago. I don't use any particular system; instead I draw on hundreds of systems, and all of my professional experience, to help find what works best for you.
